Mission Statement

The mission of the library media program is to ensure that students and staff are effective users of ideas and information. This mission is accomplished:

  • by providing intellectual and physical access to materials in all formats
  • by providing instruction to foster competence and stimulate interest in reading, viewing, and using information and ideas
  • by working with other educators to design learning strategies to meet the needs of individual students

The Ore City School Library was built in 1978 and contains over 15,000 items (books, videos, magazines, and newspapers). It has internet access with remote access to online encyclopedias, magazines, and newspapers as well as many other resources and databases. Our library is a community and school library and is open all summer for the students and community of Ore City to enjoy.  We serve approximately 400 students.

The Ore City Elementary Library was built in 2010 and contains over  6,000 items (books, videos, magazines, newspapers, games, and teacher resources.)  It also has access to the internet with remote access to online encyclopedias, magazines, and newspapers as well as many other resources and databases.  The new library is a beautiful facility that everyone is very proud of.  We serve approximately 400 students.
