Gov. Abbott COVID-19 School Closure

Ore City ISD Parents,

Given the rapidly evolving situation with COVID-19, in an effort to support our nation’s need to slow the spread of the novel coronavirus, Governor Abbot has closed all schools in the state of Texas through April 3rd. Our health officials report that cases are continuing to spread in the state, and an increase in confirmed cases in our area seems likely.

While on-site instruction has been suspended, Ore City ISD has developed a plan for our teachers, on all three campus, to continue to provide quality instruction through several different instructional platforms.

Beginning this Monday, March 23rd, the district will begin to deliver instruction remotely. Campus principals will be sending out communication giving the details of the remote instructional plan for their campuses. This information will be communicated no later than Friday March 20th.

I also want to inform our community that our food service personnel will be adding five additional meal pick-up locations. Free meals will be available to anyone eighteen years of age or younger from 11:00 to 12:00 at the following locations:  Ore City MS/HS cafeteria, Catfish Village, Shady Shores Volunteer Fire Dept., Ore City Community Center, New Mountain Volunteer Fire Dept., and Ore City Elementary School.

Meal delivery at these locations will begin Monday, March 23rd:

Thank you for your support and cooperation as we ensure that all members of the community in Ore City ISD stay safe and healthy.

Sincerely,

Lynn Heflin
Superintendent
Ore City ISD
