FREE:   ACT ONLINE PREP PROGRAM FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS -- ACT is offering its newly redesigned ACT Online Prep™ product (value of $39.95) at no cost to students who qualify and register for a national ACT® test date with a fee waiver. ACT Online Prep is one of many tools that can help students prepare for the ACT. The new system will launch on December 18, 2015. No additional steps are necessary for eligible students to receive complimentary access. Students and parents will be able to meet with faculty and staff, participate in interactive academic sessions, check out student life as well as tour the campus. The East Texas Rural Electric Youth Seminar is a program sponsored by Upshur Rural  and will be held on the campus of ETBU during the week of June 22-26 and they need 15 students to participate. This is a chance to put your leadership skills and problem-solving skills on your resume when you apply at colleges. Also, 13 scholarships will be awarded at the end of the week and a chance to go to Washington, D.C. If your parent/guardian has Upshur Rural Electric service, see Ms. Dauster for an application. HB 5 Graduation Toolkit Available to Students, Parents & Counselors provides for a more flexible graduation program for all students who enter high school beginning in the 2014-2015 school year. Commissioner Williams states it "offers an excellent overview of the new state graduation requirements and endorsements, as well as vital information for postsecondary plans for college or the workforce." The graduation toolkit provides a summary of the state's new graduation plan and descriptions of the five potential endorsements that can now be offered by high schools, as well as a checklist to begin planning for high school and beyond. The toolkit also includes information on various workforce resources provided through the Texas Workforce Commission. All these resources are geared toward assisting students and parents in planning for any postsecondary goals for college or career.

FAFSA is the only way to get more money for your college expenses. Go to this website and it will give you step by step instructions on how to fill it out. You must have this done ASAP for free moneys.

FAFSA.ed.gov here is where you need to go to apply for your PIN number for both the student and the parent/guardian. Do now!

The Eastman Technical College Scholarship is funded through the Educational Aid Budget of Eastman Chemical Company for the purpose of attracting, recruiting and retaining a qualified diverse workforce. Scholarships will pay tuition and customary fees for at least two (2) semesters as long as a 3.0 GPA is maintained. ASVAB    The ASVAB is a multiple-aptitude battery that measures developed abilities and helps predict future academic and occupational success in the military. It is administered annually to more than one million military applicants, high school, and post-secondary students.

The new TSI assessment for college admission is the Accuplacer, a new and improved assessment. Please click on the link TSI Assessment Information for Students link so you can find help in preparing for the test. Not only is the test for seniors but also our future dual credit students will take this to demonstrate college readiness.The following are the TSI requirements as of now: 1) SAT -- 1070 with a 500 score in math or reading; 2) ACT -- 23 composite with a 19 in math or reading; 3) TSI assessment (Accuplacer) -- Reading, 351; Math, 350; Five paragraph essay, 5 or a 4 with a multiple choice score of 360; 4) PSAT -- combined score of 107 with Math a minimum of 50 as well as the critical reading score; 5) Starting the 2015-2016 school year, those who take the STAAR English III and STAAR Algebra II test and make a minimum score of 4000 will be accepted into a college.

Those who want to take the SAT test or the ACT need to see Ms. Dauster or Ms. Wright for fee waivers if needed. Fee waivers are for those who are on free or reduced lunch or for other matters that make it difficult to pay for the tests.
